Lighting Up Children's Lives with Sustainable Growth and Care

Introduction
Founded in 1999, The Garden of Mercy Foundation is a social welfare organization that initially focused on HIV/AIDS prevention education, hospice care for terminal AIDS patients, and providing shelter for infants suspected or diagnosed with HIV. Over the years, we have evolved into a long-term care institution, offering support for infants affected by substance exposure, children with developmental disabilities, and those with complex medical needs.

At every stage of our journey, we have adapted to societal needs and challenges by collaborating with multidisciplinary partners, ensuring that our work aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through our efforts, we address hunger (SDG 2), promote health and well-being (SDG 3), provide quality education (SDG 4), and strengthen partnerships (SDG 17). Ultimately, we strive to ensure that each child receives the care and opportunities they deserve (SDG 10).

SDG 10: Equality for Every Life Through Love and Acceptance
Our vision is to eliminate social barriers and unfair treatment caused by family background, disabilities, or other circumstances. By fostering inclusivity and respect, we uphold social justice and promote equal opportunities. We are committed to ensuring that every child and adult who receives our care experiences dignity, self-worth, and the chance to thrive—aligning with SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).

SDG 2: Nutrition as a Foundation for Growth
From infants affected by substance exposure to children with special needs—including those with developmental disabilities and complex medical conditions—nearly all children we serve face significant physiological challenges. As part of our commitment to SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), we emphasize proper nutrition, ensuring that each child receives a well-balanced and diverse diet. By meeting their nutritional needs, we provide a strong foundation for their healthy growth and development.

SDG 3: Health and Well-being—A Warm Commitment to Life
Many of the children we serve face significant physical and psychological challenges. Ensuring their right to healthcare and survival is at the core of our mission. We actively fulfill SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by integrating medical and psychological resources, allowing us to provide timely, professional treatments. This holistic approach helps mitigate the risks associated with trauma, developmental disorders, and behavioral challenges. By safeguarding their health and well-being, we foster a sense of security, self-confidence, and stability in their lives.

SDG 4: Education and Empowerment—Nurturing the Potential of Every Child
We support children from infancy through age 18, ensuring a continuum of care that spans early childhood development and formal education. Our commitment to SDG 4 (Quality Education) is grounded in the belief that every child has the potential to learn and grow. Through structured learning programs tailored to different developmental stages, we create a safe and supportive environment where children can explore, discover, and develop their abilities. We believe that education has the power to transform lives and open doors to new opportunities.

SDG 17: Building Strong Partnerships for Sustainable Impact
Since our inception, the Foundation has continuously expanded its scope of care to meet the unique needs of the children we serve. What began with collaborations in public health, nursing, psychology, and social work has now evolved into a comprehensive network spanning child development, special education, rehabilitation therapy, and nutrition. By leveraging cross-disciplinary expertise, we have overcome challenges related to resources, funding, and specialized care. Our commitment to SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) is more than just an objective—it is a guiding principle that strengthens our ability to support children in need.

Final Thoughts
As a global citizen organization, The Garden of Mercy Foundation is dedicated to advancing the core principles of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through our welfare services, we strive to contribute to a more sustainable, inclusive, and compassionate future for all.
