ABOUT US

HISTORY

The Garden of Mercy Foundation was established in 1999, based on the principles of God’s love and compassion. Though initially focused on education about HIV prevention, our foundation expanded our services in 2000 to establish the first hospice care home for late-stage AIDS patients in Taiwan. While we were able to achieve many of our mission milestones by 2016, we decided to primarily focus on care for children with AIDS.
Due to the significant increase in intravenous drug use in Taiwan in 2004, we recognized that those drug-addicted mothers with HIV/AIDS were unable to care for their newborns with NAS (Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome) and HIV-positive. Consequently, in 2005, the “Grace House Baby Care Center” was established in Taipei to provide specialized care for infants aged 0-2 suspected or diagnosed with HIV/AIDS.
After facing a dilemma of an AIDS positive 2-year-old being rejected by other institutions, we established a Children’s Group Home that offered a family-like care model to accommodate the child. Our program eventually began to provide long-term placement services for other AIDS positive and special needs children.
In recent years, our organization has primarily served babies suffering from drug withdrawal symptoms and those subjected to improper family care.

VISION AND MISSION

With "Love, Acceptance, and Care" as our core philosophy, we adhere to the principles of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. We are dedicated to safeguarding children who are forced to leave their families from discrimination, ensuring their right to survival and development, and ultimately, healing their trauma, enabling their lives to be transformed.
