Little CiCi (alias) was born into a world of pain. The moment she arrived, experienced doctors immediately detected traces of drugs in her system. In court, when questioned, her mother admitted, “Yes. Meth and heroin.” The reason? A fight with CiCi’s father had left her feeling stressed, and drugs became her escape.
While her mother sought temporary relief, CiCi suffered the consequences. Instead of feeling the warmth of a mother’s embrace, she spent her first days in a sterile incubator, struggling to survive—paying the price for a choice that was never hers.
Then, hope arrived. A social worker brought her to AiCi, a place of love and healing. Knowing the difficult road ahead, we created a specialized care plan—nourishing her fragile body with special formula, using music therapy to soothe her restlessness, and guiding her through sensory and language training to support her healthy development. Every moment before age three was critical, and we were determined to help her reach the milestones she deserved.
Today, the transformation is clear. CiCi can point to body parts in picture books, and when her caregiver leaves for the day, she beams and calls out, “Bye-bye!” Her journey is far from over, but with love and support, she now has a future filled with possibility.
For over 20 years, AiCi has been a sanctuary for more than 100 drug-exposed babies like CiCi, turning every donation into a thread of love that weaves a safety net of hope. With your help, we can continue to fight for the most vulnerable and give them the chance at life they deserve.
